Christmas Menu & Hosting Tips
If you’re hosting a big Christmas gathering, these are the tips that actually make the day run smoother! My mom hosts around 50 people every year and basically has it down to a science at this point!
Tips
1. Don’t do everything yourself
Even if you think you can, it’s just not realistic. Ask family members to help with specific tasks—it makes the entire day so much easier and more enjoyable.
2. Use the same menu every year
My mom has been serving the same Christmas menu for years, and it’s always perfect. No guesswork, no stress, and everyone knows what to expect.
3. Serve everything buffet-style (on paper plates)
We host over 50 people, and no one wants to be stuck washing dishes afterward. Buffet-style food and disposable plates are the way to go.
4. Set up coolers the day before
My husband ices all the coolers the day before Christmas so drinks are ready to go and no one has to think about it on Christmas Day.
5. Do all baking ahead of time
Bake in the days leading up to Christmas—no one wants to bake while juggling cooking for 50 people. My mom bakes her cake the day before, and everyone else brings different desserts.
6. Set out platters the day before
This seems small, but it helps so much. Having everything laid out ahead of time saves time and stress the next day.
7. Clean and organize the house in advance
Try to have the house cleaned and organized before Christmas so you can focus on cooking and enjoying the day.
