Family Pizza Night
About five years ago, I went through a serious homemade pizza phase. Every Friday, I would make big batches of dough in my KitchenAid and invite my family over for pizza night. For some reason, I eventually stopped the tradition, but last week I realized how much I missed it. My husband happened to be off on Sunday night, so we decided to bring it back. We dusted off our massive pizza oven and made a whole variety of pizzas!
I always love pairing pizza night with a big salad. Usually, I stick to something simple like arugula or a homemade Caesar, but I recently bought the Wishbone Kitchen cookbook and knew I had to try her Italian Chopped Salad. My kids wouldn’t touch it—but honestly, it was absolutely delicious!
For my younger kids, I kept it classic and made a few plain cheese pies, which is their favorite.
For me, my husband, and my older kids, I had fun experimenting with a few different kinds. The star of the night was the bruschetta pie—definitely our favorite.
The pepperoni and hot honey pizza was a close second. I’m obsessed with onions in any form, so I also made a plain onion pie and another one with pepperoni and onions.
If you’re feeling ambitious, you can totally make your own dough, but in this season of life, I’m perfectly happy using store-bought. We used the dough from Whole Foods (it’s our go-to), but realized we didn’t have quite enough. My daughter quickly ran to the pizzeria on our corner to grab two more batches—always a great backup plan!
Here is the link to the pizza oven we use! It is definitely an investment but I convinced my husband it would be cheaper than takeout 😂😂😂
