Favorite Snacks My Kids Are Loving Lately
Favorite Snacks My Kids Are Loving Lately
If your kids are anything like mine, snacks are a pretty big deal. They come home from school starving so I’m always on the lookout for easy homemade options that they’ll actually get excited about. Lately, we’ve had a few favorites that I seem to keep making, so I wanted to share what’s been working for us.
These are all simple to make, use basic ingredients, and most importantly, have been big hits with my kids. I keep a well stocked pantry, so many of these are easy to throw together. Whether you’re packing lunches, dealing with post-school hunger, or just need something quick and fun to make together, I hope you find a few new favorites here too.
Cheerio Bars
These come together so fast and are perfect for busy afternoons. Just a handful of ingredients, no baking required, and my kids absolutely love them. They always disappear in minutes.
Brown Butter M&M Cookies
This is probably the cookie recipe I make the most. The brown butter adds such a cozy, rich flavor and the M&Ms make them fun and colorful. They’re super easy and always a crowd-pleaser.
Banana Bread
I’ve been using the same banana bread recipe forever, and it’s never let me down. It’s moist, flavorful, and just sweet enough. The kids love it warm out of the oven or packed in their lunchboxes the next day.
Homemade Chewy Bars
These turned out to be a huge hit. They’re so much better than the store-bought kind and made with ingredients I feel good about. Great for snacks, breakfast on the go, or whenever the kids need a little something.
Sourdough Crackers
These are one of those recipes I make constantly. They’re super simple and a great way to use up sourdough discard. Everyone who tries them ends up asking for the recipe, and I always keep a batch on hand.
Sourdough Blueberry Muffins with Crumb Topping
I tried these for the first time recently and they were such a fun twist on regular blueberry muffins. The crumb topping gives them a little extra texture and sweetness. They’re definitely going in our regular muffin rotation.
Chocolate Chip Muffins
My kids always want these when we’re out, so I figured it was time to try making them myself. I’m glad I did because they turned out so good. Soft, chocolatey, and full of that bakery-style muffin flavor they love.
Cornbread Muffins
These were a surprise hit. Super easy to make and a perfect match for the little cornbread lovers in my house. The kids added honey on top and were instantly obsessed.
Other Snack Options
One of my favorite things to do when my kids get home from school is put together a fruit and veggie tray. I love creating a little grazing station for them—something healthy they can pick at before dinner.
My kids are also huge fans of charcuterie boards. I’ve found that when I take the time to arrange things nicely on a board, they’re way more likely to try new foods.
And I can’t forget one of our go-to afternoon snacks : homemade pizza. It’s simple and something everyone actually agrees on!
That’s the current snack roundup at our house. If you try any of these, let me know how they go over with your crew! Comment snacks your family has been living to give me some new ideas!
