Grilled BBQ Chicken Recipe
Here’s my go-to Grilled BBQ Chicken Recipe! It is perfect for summer!
I love grilling this time of year — it makes dinner quick, easy, and full of flavor.
Servings: 6–8
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 35–45 minutes
Total Time: ~55 minutes
Ingredients
• 5 lbs bone-in, skin-on chicken (mix of breasts, thighs, and legs)
• 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce
• Salt, to taste
• Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat the Grill
Heat your grill to medium (about 350°F to 400°F).
2. Season the Chicken
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
3. Grill the Chicken (Indirect Heat)
Place the chicken skin-side up on the cooler side of the grill (indirect heat).
Cover and cook for about 25–30 minutes, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches about 150°F.
4. Add the BBQ Sauce
Brush the chicken with BBQ sauce.
Move the chicken over to the hotter side of the grill (direct heat), skin-side down.
Grill for another 5–10 minutes, brushing with more sauce and turning once or twice, until nicely caramelized and internal temperature reaches 165°F for thighs and legs, 160°F for breasts.
5. Rest and Serve
Remove chicken from the grill. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side, if desired.
Tips:
• Don’t add the BBQ sauce too early — it can burn before the chicken is cooked through.
